As I sit at the bedside of my dying mother I am reminded of the reason why I got into the insurance business many years ago. This industry was the furthest thing from my mind. In fact, the words “life insurance” carried such a morbid connotation growing up. The mere mention of the words was like saying “You’re gonna die tomorrow!”, an omen of impending doom. This reluctance to openly speak about death, let alone the opportunity it presents to potentially create generational wealth made seeing a brighter future outside of what was the norm difficult to conceive. It’s a hard conversation that few want to have until...well...you have to. The problem for us was when she had to finally talk about it...she couldn’t...because life happened...
This reluctance quickly exposed the lack of preparedness that cost us tremendously financially and emotionally and to be quite honest to this day we have been left picking up the pieces. Grief is that much more painful. I am haunted by what I wish she knew about life insurance. Here are 7 things I wish she knew about life insurance:
Truth is...its often too late for many of us and as a result the potential of creating a legacy of wealth and financial security is squandered due to simply not exploring what is readily available. We just don’t stop to have the right conversation and therefore...we don’t know what we are entitled to. We live in the comforts of the moment, doing the best we can with the the little we have, and before we know it the future is uncertain and insecure with the ones we leave behind struggling to pick up the pieces. This was my story. So where’s the silver lining? The happy ending? There is an opportunity for us to not perpetuate this cycle of regret. My children will have other regrets I’m sure...but not these. These 7 things I wish mom knew have now become my consolation about life insurance. And can become yours too! My story is the motivation behind the mission of Martin & Murray Wealth Solutions, LLC, for all of our clients regardless of their needs to never have to experience what we went through as a family. We are committed to this not becoming your story too. Let us help you and your loved ones prepare for whatever life throws at you down the road. Have the right conversation with us today! Plan Today.
